Who Are We?

A group of like-minded people with a heart for those afflicted by the problems of addiction and with a focus on supporting women as they rebuild their lives. Grace House was incorporated in 2012 as a tax exempt, 501 (c) 3, corporation in New York State.

Our By-laws state, in part, that it is our intention to bring faith-based solutions to those homeless, or not, from addiction and abuse. It was our first desire to provide safe housing for women in early stages of recovery from addiction. Our search for an appropriate space was long and futile until Grace Episcopal Church in Canton approached us with the possibility of using their vacant rectory, and sharing in this ministry. After two years of planning board appearances and submission of various documents final approval was finally given in May 2018.

We are not under the auspices of any state agency as we are not a treatment center; – rather we provide safe, structured living for up to six women who have completed treatment and need such an environment to make the transition successfully into society.

Only about 80% of our needs will be met by rent/food allowance payments. We depend on the generosity of the community to help us help women. This is a plague that has affected most families and households. This work brings a service for women to the county which now exists no closer than Watertown.

…and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2
